RTD Cocktails

Ready-to-drink (RTD) cocktails are alcoholic mixed beverages that are sold pre-mixed, with the idea that the customer can simply open, pour, and serve. This way, the consumer does not need to worry about balance, technique, or having a collection of ingredients at their home bar. Commercially, it's also easy for bartenders and servers to pour up, saving them multiple steps of mixing a cocktail for their patrons.

History

Ready-to-Drink Cocktails

RTD cocktails are not an innovation of recent years; they actually date all the way back to the 1800s. A pair of hotel owners known as the Heublein Brothers crafted bottled martinis and began selling them to patrons of bars and restaurants in 1892.

The surge in RTD creations coincided with numerous brands seeking to diversify their product portfolios to cater to the varied preferences of consumers craving an array of flavors and ingredients. This trend led to the introduction of a myriad of options, spanning from pre-mixed cocktails to hard seltzers and spiked sodas. RTDs emerged as some of the most innovative offerings in the market, continually pushing boundaries and adapting to evolving tastes.

Bars and restaurants eagerly embraced these beverages to streamline their mixology process and reduce costs. Additionally, RTDs extend beyond alcoholic beverages; there are also RTD coffees, mocktails, and more, all of which Flavorman can expertly craft to perfection. Flavorman can pursue your vision of classic cocktail recipes like the Negroni, Old Fashioned, Cosmopolitan, and more, ensuring that each sip is an exquisite experience tailored to your desires.

Key Considerations

  1. Premade mixed cocktails should involve specific proportions of each ingredient, but packaging sizes can range anywhere from 100ml cans to 750ml glass bottles.
  2. If you're considering adding alcohol to your RTD beverage, navigating the regulatory landscape of the TTB is crucial. But don't fret—Flavorman's dedicated regulatory team is at your service to ensure that your product complies with all TTB requirements.
  3. It's important to explore local and state alcohol and beer tax laws, as they will impact your bottom line.
