At Flavorman, we love sharing the diverse stories that pass through the Beverage Campus. Today, we’re excited to introduce Paul and Karla Alexander, the duo behind Mississippi-based bakery P’s Sweets and So Much More. They recently completed formulations for their new beverage line alongside their business partner, Maurice Tally. We’re honored to share the journey that brought them through our doors.
A Sweet Origin Story
Paul Alexander has been passionate about the culinary arts since childhood, spending much of his life honing his craft. In 2017, however, a life-changing medical emergency resulted in the complete loss of his vision. After meeting Karla, Paul began teaching himself to make desserts at home. “I needed something to do instead of sitting at home all day,” he said. Relying on his other senses, Paul perfected his recipes by “feeling” the quantities of ingredients, smelling, tasting, and adjusting them intuitively.
After pairing his technique with Karla’s decorating talents, the couple began sharing photos of their desserts online, bringing treats to church, and offering them to their community. Soon, custom orders began rolling in, and the popularity of P’s Sweets quickly grew. In 2022, Paul was honored with a Pastry Chef Award from the National Black Chef Association in New Orleans—an inspiring recognition of his growing business.
From the Bakery to Beverages
Paul’s creativity didn’t stop at desserts. He began experimenting with juice and lemonade blends, adjusting ingredient levels through taste, touch, and smell. After perfecting his homemade recipes, Paul introduced samples at the release party for his book, Blind Faith. Friends and family were invited to share feedback, notes, and critiques to help improve the blends. He and Karla proceeded to offer their flavored lemonades at festivals and community events. “People started coming back for refills over and over. Eventually, they were asking to purchase our drinks by the gallon,” Karla recalls. The overwhelming response inspired the team to pursue commercial formulation.

When searching for a beverage formulator, the P’s Sweets team found Flavorman to be the most approachable. “I liked how we could send in our samples, and Flavorman took it from there,” says Paul. Along the way, they gained insight into key logistical considerations, like order minimums and supplier thresholds, which Flavorman helped streamline. Paul, Karla, and Maurice later visited our campus for a Lab Day to put the finishing touches on three flavor profiles they had developed with our Beverage Architects: Piña Colada, Razz Jazz (a blend of berry, coconut, and peach), and Hawaiian Twist (featuring watermelon, coconut, and pineapple). These lemonade-based beverages will be the first to hit the market, but Paul already has more ideas brewing for the brand’s future.
“We are very pleased with Flavorman’s warmth and commitment to building a strong relationship,” says Maurice. That same warmth and approachability is exactly what P’s Sweets hopes to deliver through their own products - drinks that keep customers “coming back for a second and third.”
Sipping Into the Future
Motivated by their faith, Paul, Karla, and Maurice are diving headfirst into this new venture, with plans to promote their products throughout Christian communities. Through resilience and dedication, Paul has transformed some of life’s most significant challenges into something undeniably sweet. “He may not be able to see the natural, but he’s the visionary for our mission,” says Maurice of their partnership. As the trusted Beverage Architects for P’s Sweets and So Much More, we’re proud to help bring their Dream Drink to life, and we can’t wait to see where their journey leads next!
