July 4th Drinks to Sip All Day

Published on:

July 1, 2020

Since 1776, Americans have celebrated our nation’s independence with fireworks, baseball games, carnivals, and the like. While this year’s festivities might look a little different than those of years past, we can still count on good food and great drinks to raise our spirits.

To help you out with your weekend preparations, we’ve put together this selection of delicious July 4th drinks to sip all day. From a healthy morning smoothie to a delectable patriotic milkshake, we’ve got the perfect beverages to pair with your Independence Day excitement. Let’s get started.

July 4th Breakfast Drinks

Summertime is made for sleeping in, but when you do finally roll out of bed on July 4th, make sure your morning drink matches the theme of the day. Sure, you could just grab a cup of coffee — but why not step it up a bit?

A glass of Red, White & Blue Sparkling Juice goes great with eggs and toast — and it’s just as easy to make! All you need is white grape juice, ginger-ale, blueberries, and some chopped strawberries. Use an ice cube tray to freeze up the white grape juice the night before. These will act as your separator when you assemble the drink into the red, white, and blue pattern after which it is named.

For a little buzz, you can also start your morning in style with this recipe for a Lemosa — essentially a mimosa, but with lemonade. Just pour together your lemonade with prosecco, add some lemon-blueberry simple syrup, and get fancy by garnishing with fresh blueberries.

If you’re not big on breakfast (or brunch), then you can go for a Triple Berry Frozen Smoothie. This drink takes a little more time to make, but the results are guaranteed to be as tasty as they are Instagram-worthy! This recipe uses an assortment of fruit combinations to create red and blue layers separated by a white sheet of fluffy lemon yogurt. Yum!

July 4th Lunch Drinks

It’s not a proper July 4th celebration unless you’re spending as much time as possible outside. Of course, all that time outdoors can make you thirsty! Luckily, we’ve got you covered.

What’s better to sip by the pool than something sweet, frozen, and garnished with fruit? There are plenty of easy-to-make, healthy and kid-friendly slushie recipes to enjoy, and they come in all kinds of summertime flavors — strawberry, mango, peach, watermelon, you name it.

The best part is that any slushie can also be made into a delicious grown up version — just add your favorite spirits. Craving a Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri? Just blend together some light rum with frozen strawberries and lime juice, then try to stop yourself from re-filling your glass.

You know what else always seems to hit the spot on a warm summer’s day? Lemonade.

Because sour and tart flavors stimulate the salivary glands more than any other taste, lemonade provides immediate relief for dry mouth and can leave you feeling refreshed. It’s scientifically designed to be thirst-quenching!

It also helps that lemonade is an incredibly versatile drink that can be prepared in a variety of ways: from classic Strawberry and Blueberry versions to a sophisticated Frozen Blackberry Basil, there’s plenty to try.

July 4th Dinner & Dessert Drinks

Sun burned and ready to fuel up on barbecue, it’s time to hydrate with some Cranberry-Mint Iced Tea before the fireworks. This recipe is simple and delicious. Just boil up some cranberry juice cocktail with a few black tea bags and some mint leaves, then let steep. Serve over ice with a little sugar and vuella! You won’t want to dump this tea into the harbor.

A Watermelon Sangria also goes perfectly with dinner and is equally easy to make. Just chop up some seedless watermelon, then add it to a glass that’s three parts chilled rosé wine and one part sparkling wine, champagne, or moscato. It covers all bases — bubbly, sweet, and refreshing.

For dessert, you can finish out the day with a summertime favorite — milkshakes! Keep it classic with this recipe for a vanilla milkshake, made patriotic with the addition of red and blue food coloring which can be used to create the different layers. It’s also super easy to customize with add-ins and toppings, from sprinkles and chocolate chips, to peanut butter and fudge. Just don’t forget the whipped cream!

If you’re looking for something a little more sophisticated, we recommend this decadent and completely vegan Grilled Cherry Milkshake. It takes a little prep, so you’ll need to start by using an ice tray to freeze full-fat coconut milk into cubes, then blend those together with vanilla extract and agave nectar or honey. To prepare the star of the drink, just fire up the grill to char some de-stemmed and de-pitted cherries. Add the grilled cherries to the sweet, creamy drink for a tart, smokey flavor twist.

Whatever you choose to sip on this July 4th, be sure to do it safely. Have fun this weekend, and happy birthday America!
